HPHS student Christopher Cozby was presented with a certificate of achievement and a framed copy of his HP flag illustration Jan. 17 during the HPISD school board meeting. Cozby’s artwork was selected by HPISD for the cover of the 2022 Annual Comprehensive Finance Report (ACFR). HPHS Principal Jeremy Gilbert and Art Teacher Laura Draper assisted with the presentation.
Coach Roxanne Farris has been named Region 3-6A Assistant Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year by the Texas High School Coaches Association. This is Coach Farris’ eighth year at Highland Park High School where she teaches chemistry and is a Lady Scots cross country and track and field assistant coach. Before coming to Highland Park, she was the head boys' and girls' cross country coach and head girls' track & field coach at Coppell and North Garland.
Thirty-two Highland Park Special Olympics students were all smiles during their Basketball Skills Competition Jan. 25 at Ferris High School. The athletes demonstrated skills in dribbling, shooting and passing. The day ended with a combined scrimmage among the older athletes who played in a 5-on-5 game along with an award ceremony.
