The Board recognized Taylor McCowan, a 2023 graduate of Young Women's Leadership Academy at Arnold, for being selected to receive the 2023 Student Heroes Award for State Board of Education District 13. A special thanks to SBOE District 13 member Aicha Davis who recognized Taylor and YWLA teacher Sheila Christensen who nominated her for the award.
Trustees also honored Beau Thompson, a 2023 graduate of Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy for being named the winner of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition for Texas’ 30th District by Rep. Jasmine Crockett.
